ABOUT
Beginning in early 2004, this experimental alternative-rock trio turned duo has made tremendous strides in developing a sound all their own. With Skip's creative use of an acoustic guitar, breaking all tradition and "acoustic" customs, The Fortitude has humbly reinvented the acoustic guitar's once quiet qualities, and pushed the progression of rock 'n' roll into a new space.Bridging the gap between electric and acoustic The Fortitude continues to carve out there space in the sonic landscape by combining the textures and ambience you would find in A Perfect Circle; the quirky, experimental flavor you taste in Incubus; and the spacey, jam-based feel that elevates you while you spin your Pink Floyd vinyl. Throw in some Muse and a touch of RHCP and you have the flavors proudly used to take the listener on a roller coaster ride of atmospheric riffs.
Having proved themselves road worthy in 15 states across the USA The Fortitude has only begun to get the wheels rolling. With six years of show experience and three albums under the belt there is still no sign of giving up on the dream.
For the third and most recent album, "Yellow" (recorded and written entirely on his own), Skip is taking a whole new approach to the live show with the "Help Wanted Tour" being planned for the 2010 summer. After years of cycling through members, leaving huge gaps in the travel schedule, he has brought in Kevin Powers (original drummer and founding member) to speed up the process and cut the down time previously needed to find musicians. "I'm just tired of waiting for musicians to appear at my door so I decided it's time to go knock on there's"-Skip Armed with a drummer and an ipod taking on bass duties, The Fortitude is pushing on and taking their music to the masses. But the clock is ticking... Prior to reuniting with The Fortitude Powers joined the Army National Guard and only has a limited time to continue with the band before his 2011 deployment. "Just the fact that Kevin's been willing to help has been great. Not only can we show bass players and drummers what they can be apart of, We also get to preform our music live"-Skip
But don't think half a band means half a show. Its easy to see that the two have fine tuned there styles and sounds together over the years and have still managed to keep the energy that was present the first time they played together over seven years ago. Two members may be less to look at but has allowed for SO MUCH MORE TO SEE.
